Workshop on “Move from Research to Business”

May 30, 2010

Oeiras (Lisbon Region) – Portugal

The economical situation in the world today and the demands for new and innovative solutions to improve the well-being of mankind, requires a huge effort and a collaborative work to produce new ideas and to conduct businesses taking advantage of the available knowledge and technological advances.

Portugal, as an ancient and innovative Nation, is now facing new challenges for the scientific and economical growth that requires establishing new partnerships in order to participate in the new developments.

Aiming in that direction, the IEEE Portugal Section is very proud to be part of the promoting efforts to establish agreements among partners in IEEE Region 8 (Europe, Middle East and Africa) to find new business opportunities and provide innovative solutions for Humanity Welfare and Wealth.

The first IEEE Region 8 CS/RAS/EMB/IES/IAS/PELS Chapter Chairs Meeting was therefore planned to discuss ideas and concerns among IEEE Region 8 Countries and to contribute into an environment of Business prosperity and knowledge sharing, as well as the interchange of students and professionals on the vast Engineering and Scientific fields of IEEE.

The Workshop on “Move from Research to Business” was therefore planned, in sequence to the IEEE Region 8 Meeting, to bring into discussion not only the possible IEEE contributions but also the knowledge and experience on the last decades of prominent researchers and entrepreneurs, by sharing their ideas, concerns and success stories to help us understand the directions we must take to effectively help the Economy in this vast Region.

The Workshop on “Move from Research to Business” is an opportunity to discuss with former Portuguese Government Minister, Researchers and Entrepreneurs that have built successful businesses at International level.
